Happy anniversary to us!
Tonight after I came home from work he asked if I wanted to go out to a romantic dinner this week for our anniversary. It had kind of snuck up on me, but here it is, three years of dating, half of which has been spent living together. I suppose if we were to get married or civil partnershipped the anniversary of beginning to date would slip into oblivion as the wedding date took over.
Any of you married or engaged people out there: do you still have a first date anniversary, or is it purely wedding anniversary celebrations now?
mom replied:
wow really, 3 years?
well I met your dad Feb 16 (15?) at his brother’s wedding around 2-4 p.m., but we never made note of that date, but I personally would notice it.
That is neat S remembered, what a guy.
3 yrs is a significant proportion of your life. Does it feel like he’s always been there?
What will it be like 3 years from now? If you can even imagine 28.
I think you’ll remember all the significant dates.

The LotR and I don’t remember the exact date, but something around the time. We normally just say something like ‘hey, it’s been about 2 years this month.’ or something like that. I guess you could say we’re not really romantic people like that. However, if he forgot about our ‘real’ anniversary – then I would be upset. lol.

Sue and I have a hard enough time remembering our wedding anniversary – it’s been 49 years – let alone our first date. You two need to take the Loooooong view. By the by, I would guess that your definition of “dating” is not the same as ours.

My wife and I still acknowledge our first date anniversary. But we’ve only been married for 6 1/2 months, so maybe that has something to do with it. Our anniversary was in July of 2003, and we still remember it now. Hopefully we’ll be able to remember it when we’re 80. 🙂
