Officey attire
I bought two shirts and new handbag over the weekend, for under $30 total. (Thank you, 8-year-olds in Sri Lanka!) The purse is red and not real leather and the first bag I have purchased in four years. The shirts are both black. One is a button-down in a satiny material with a thin patent belt around the waist, and the other is a short-sleeved sweater with a fake polka-dotted collar shirt attached. So sneaky, making it look like there’s a shirt underneath, when really it’s just shirttails and a collar sewn on. Brilliant!
I wore the second one today with a knee-length flared black skirt and my old office pumps and I felt very preppy and officey. A coworker asked if I had an interview.
“Nope, I’m just dressed nicely today, thank you for noticing,” I said. “I’m going to start dressing up more every day, actually. And then when I have an interview, nobody will know! It will be just another day at the office…”
