What I Wore to Work Today: Fri, Feb 18
Shirt: Goodwill, refashioned
Tank top: Old Navy
I wore jeans to the office last Monday because I was going directly to a hockey game from work. I had a migraine and did some throwing up in the office bathroom, and was actually barfing half an hour before getting picked me up. A coworker friend gave me a plastic bag to stash in my purse in case I needed to hurl in the car. Part of me wishes that it had happened, just for the story: my first Valentine’s Day being single in 7 years and I throw up in my date’s car, a dude I had only met twice before… It didn’t happen though and I felt much better by the game’s second period. Hockey hockey hockey!
The weekend has arrived! I’m actually typing this on Friday evening, sitting on my couch with my feet up on the coffee table after a 2 mile run. I tried something new this time, running slow enough to not get very out of breath, and it felt like I could have gone another 2 miles without much trouble. I didn’t, though, it was getting dark and I had planned for just 2. I forgot my watch until I was already out the door so I have to estimate the time at a minute or two slower than usual mile pace.
Maybe on Sunday I’ll go for a longer run, like 5 miles, at the slow pace and see how it goes. These perfect 70 degree days aren’t going to be around forever, the brutal summer is just around the corner…

Tank top: Old Navy
This skirt feels so short and provocative while I’m wearing it, with all the lace and leg and high heels, and then I’m partly relieved and partly disappointed to see in pictures that it’s reasonable and office-appropriate.
I’m scrunching my hair in the picture below, inadvertently hitting the quintessential I’m-modeling-for-the-camera pose: one hand on hip, the other behind the ear.

I felt great in this outfit, partially thanks to my hair that was magically looking great, and I gallivanted all over town. I went to work. I went to the post office. I went to a Thai restaurant to pick up takeout. I went to a new acquaintance-fellow’s house to eat dinner and watch our two hockey teams play each other (my team won in a shutout, 2-0, probably because I wore my Sharks jersey and he didn’t have on any Capitals paraphernalia). I went to the final night of a six-week improv comedy intro class, and then I signed up and paid for level two that starts in a few weeks. I went to get drinks with a couple people from the improv class, returning home close to midnight. And throughout the whole day I felt great: energized, enthusiastic, optimistic, focused, and yes, even pretty.
I didn’t spend any time on my laptop at home. Coincidence? Maybe it’s time for a computer fast to cleanse my system.

Blouse: A mall store I don’t remember
Skirt: Goodwill, shortened by me
Boots: Famous Footwear
I felt put-together, ladylike, and fun today.
I’m finally taking the GRE tomorrow afternoon, which means I’m taking a day off work. Hooray for 3-day weekend! Well, kind of, with a four hour exam during the first part of it. Now to create a time machine so I can back in time and take several online practice tests and write a few practice essays…

Trousers: Old Navy
We have a winter front coming through the area, just like the much of the country, with real weather such as wind and everything. The high today was maybe 45 degrees and the low tonight is supposed to be 27 in my part of the Valley. 27 degrees! A hard freeze warning! I wore my wool trousers and don’t know what I’ll do tomorrow for the 90 second walk from my apartment to the car and then from my car to the office. A skirt and tights maybe? Lots of disbelief and whining? It’s cold out there, yo!

Skirt: Gift from my friend Sarah
Belt: Gift from Sarah
The picture below with the sweater was taken in the morning and the other one after work, neither with very good lighting on my balcony. The tshirt is a warmer purple in real life.
I recalled the cardigan from a friend who had borrowed it awhile ago, along with another shirt that it turns out she had. After 6 weeks of laundry I realized that they were not just “in the hamper” and had in fact vanished from my apartment. “Aw, I’m sad to find out the tshirt is yours, I hoped that I had just willed it into existence,” she said.
