Brown shoes are the new black
What I Wore to Work Today: Wed, April 27
Shirt: Goodwill, pockets removed
Skirt: Goodwill, shortened
Belt: Gift from Sarah
Two people told me that I looked quite professional this day, one of them adding that I looked like I was ready for an important business meeting. “I am a financial industry professional, after all,” I said.
I’ve started wearing these brown shoes when normally I would wear black. My usual black office slingbacks have reached the end of their natural life and are being sent to the great big shoe rack in the sky. So I’m on the market now for a new pair of comfortable, classy black office heels, and for a new purse. When I say “on the market” I mean that I looked at the falling apart pieces of my current bag, said “Oh I suppose I should get a new one”, tugged on the strap to make sure it wouldn’t break on my shoulder, and continued on my merry way. Oh, and I darkened a few of the more flagrant holes in the pleather using a Sharpie. I do have some class.
See those weird little high pockets practically at my collarbone? Removing the pockets was a simple, effective refashion.
