Red housedress
What I Wore to Work Today: Wednesday, October 10, 2012
Dress: Fundraiser used clothing sale, refashioned
Belt: Target
Shoes: Payless
I was volunteering with some coworkers at a Dress For Success fundraiser where they were selling the donated clothing that didn’t meet their business attire requirements and somebody brought this dress over to me.
“I saw this and thought of you! What do you think?” she asked.
“Isn’t it a bit… um… big for you….?” another woman hesitated, looking at the dress and at me and back at the dress with a confused, polite little smile. We laughed and explained that I would refashion it into something different for me. She was visibly relieved.
$5 toward a good cause and the possibility of a fun red dress with tiny white polka-dots? I’ll take it!
The result is fine and received a few compliments at work. (“Cute dress!”). Still, after another wearing or two I’ll send it on its way. Keeping the original belt, though.
