A lingering broom
What I Wore to Work Today: June 1, 2015
Blouse: Goodwill, $1 Thursday
Pants: Limited
Shoes: Payless
While editing these pictures I noticed the broom tipped over against the wall. How long will it linger there, knocked over, before I finally pick it up?
The great Midwestern state of Wyoming

Pants: Goodwill, $1 Thursday

The recent discussion of time zones made me think of two friends of mine. They both grew up in Southern California and are not good at geography, especially when it comes to anything east of the Sierra Nevadas and west of New York City. So, you know, most of the country. One of them is worse than the other, combining her general mapping deficiencies with the “California & select East Coast cities are the important parts of the U.S.” attitude.
She once mentioned Wyoming as being part of the Midwest. It’s not. In fact, part of Wyoming is farther west than our city in Arizona, and almost a third of the state is west of the eastern Arizona border. We’re in the same census region (4 total regions) and even the same division (9 subregions). If Wyoming is Midwest, does that mean New Mexico is part of the South?

When I wear this top I feel like I’m going to a fancy country barn dance. It’s got big gingham checks, it’s got tuxedo ruffles. I say “this is the last time, then I get rid of it”, and then I did. We all have habits, I guess.

I wear a lot of black to work. Shirts, cardigans, jackets, pants, skirts. The most flattering color on my complexion? No, I suppose not.

A lot of the country is getting stir crazy with winter and is excited for the first hints of spring in March. We experience the opposite feelings here: warmer temperatures are accepted with resignation and sadness that Summer Is Coming. The first few weeks of March had unseasonably warm temps this year, too, with highs close to 90 instead of the perfect 70s that it should be. Millions of us live in the Phoenix metro area and we really shouldn’t, at least half the year the anyway. We’re wasteful with water and electricity and we’re all idiots.
I had barely worn my boots to work this winter and I wanted to get them in one at least once while temperatures were accommodating.
Oh look a peplum
What I Wore to Wore to Work Today: September 12, 2013
Jacket: Goodwill, probably $1 Thursday
Skirt: Goodwill, $1 Thursday
Shoes: Target
Oh my gosh keeping a blog is hard work. I used to do it more regularly. I guess I’m just old now. I’m 33. But only 31 in this picture! The glow of youth.
I didn’t realize this jacket had a peplum when I first saw it on the rack. I decided to buy it anyway. This was at the tail end of when peplums showed up on clothing for a bit there. I don’t have the jacket anymore, it was too tight around the ribcage and added to that early pregnancy look I sport all the time despite being, you know, not pregnant.

These pants were from Goodwill on dollar day, right? I think that was the case. It has been awhile. Same with the sleeveless top. I don’t know anymore.
Risking it all

I bought this top for a buck at Goodwill without trying it on. It seemed like it would work and if it didn’t it could go right into the giveaway pile. I’m bold, baby, a total risk-taker.

Let’s take a quick poll, which is a new button since I re-started blogging and I should give it a try. I’ve been back, what, only four days now? And Google Reader’s passing in July surely decreased the blog time of others as well, yes? So, the question: Are you, the person reading this right now, my mother?
