Lettuce begin
What I Wore to Work Today: October 10, 2013
Everything but pants: Target
Pants: Goodwill, is that we’ve decided?
Let us begin by noting that in the week between this picture and the last one I moved a spider plant pot onto the balcony and also planted lettuce. Which is where the post title Lettuce Begin comes from. It comes from me being a goddamn genius master wordsmith.
I don’t recall ever eating lettuce from my little patio container garden and I don’t know what happened to the lettuce. It is safe to assume that the lettuce died. That round planter now has basil – which has been trucking along for what seems like a year! – and a new rosemary plant. It is safe to assume that the basil and rosemary will die one day as well, which we all must.
Watching it grow/fail to grow in upcoming pictures will be a little game for us to play while we wait for death.
More brown and black

Tshirt: Target
Pants: Are these Goodwill?
Belt: Target, came with a pair of pants

Yep, here’s more from that black pants/brown belt/brown shoes phase.
More clothes I don’t have anymore
What I Wore to Work Today: October 2, 2013
Shirt: Goodwill
Skirt: Target, new, shortened
Shoes: Payless
The top and skirt were both given away last year. Another skirt that I wore maybe twice.
Wardrobe hamster wheel.

Shirt: Target
Jeans: Goodwill
Sneakers: Ross
Looking through these 16-month-old pictures are highlighting just how many clothes I have that I rarely wear. It feels like a continuous effort to pare down. The wardrobe hamster wheel.
Oh look a peplum
What I Wore to Wore to Work Today: September 12, 2013
Jacket: Goodwill, probably $1 Thursday
Skirt: Goodwill, $1 Thursday
Shoes: Target
Oh my gosh keeping a blog is hard work. I used to do it more regularly. I guess I’m just old now. I’m 33. But only 31 in this picture! The glow of youth.
I didn’t realize this jacket had a peplum when I first saw it on the rack. I decided to buy it anyway. This was at the tail end of when peplums showed up on clothing for a bit there. I don’t have the jacket anymore, it was too tight around the ribcage and added to that early pregnancy look I sport all the time despite being, you know, not pregnant.
Two dollar outfit

Blouse: Goodwill, $1 Thursday?
Pants: Goodwill, $1 Thursday?
Shoes: Payless
These pants were from Goodwill on dollar day, right? I think that was the case. It has been awhile. Same with the sleeveless top. I don’t know anymore.
Another one!
What I Wore to Work Today: September 4, 2013
Blouse: Target, slimmed
Skirt: Goodwill, shortened
Shoes: Target
Hey look it’s another post! Still with the same font though, and who knows what’s happening with these posts in readers like Feedly. (Pictures show up with odd placement on a laptop version and not at all on the app so far…) But hey, it’s another one. Add a third and we’ll have a pattern.
Risking it all
What I Wore to Work Today: June 17, 2013
Blouse: Goodwill, $1 Thursday
Skirt: Goodwill, shortened
Shoes: Target
I bought this top for a buck at Goodwill without trying it on. It seemed like it would work and if it didn’t it could go right into the giveaway pile. I’m bold, baby, a total risk-taker.
All suited up
What i Wore to Work Today: May 8, 2013
Jacket: Goodwill
Tshirt; Target
Skirt: Goodwill, shortened
Shoes: Target
I don’t own a suit. I’ve been saying for years that I will get one, a nice dark gray real suit from a company with petite sizing, maybe three pieces so that I have both skirt and trouser options. Maybe it’s time to finally — finally! — make this happen, to prepare myself to spend hundreds of dollars for a nice quality suit that fits and flatters and works for a petite woman who already looks younger than she is.
…And I just looked at Jcrew, where an average “suiting pant” is $250. I think I’ll sit on this for awhile longer.
Benchmark jeans
What I Wore to Work Today: May 3, 2013
Tshirt: From a friend
Jeans: Goodwill
Shoes: Payless
I’ve had these old Goodwill jeans for maybe five years. They are one of my benchmark pieces of of clothing. At my heavier weights they’re tight across the hips and thigh like they are here, and when I’m at my lowest weight they’re loose and gap noticeably when I’m seated, showing anybody behind me as much butt as they care to see.
